Nafasi Art Space is looking to hire a Business Development and Marketing Manager to join our small but passionate team. The ideal candidate will help Nafasi develop into a sustainable creative hub with increased self-generated revenue, long-term strategic partnerships with businesses and patrons, and an engaging and appealing public presence. The business development and marketing manager will specifically be responsible for implementing Nafasi’s Business Implementation Plan (2016), in line with the overall organisational Strategic Plan (2016-20).

 

Job Description

1. Corporate Fundraising

The manager will pursue funding opportunities through corporate fundraising, the “Friends of Nafasi” giving programme, organising an Annual Corporate Fundraiser, and coordinating corporate arts events.

Job-related activities will include: searching for potential corporate supporters and submiting proposals and reports, meeting with potential donors/partners, identifying new methods and opportunities for fundraising campaigns, negotiating, drafting, and implementing funding agreements or contracts, ensuring funders’ contributions (cash or in kind) are delivered, and developing and maintaining fruitful relationships with existing and potential donors/partners

2. Self-generated revenue

The manager will be responsible for growing/diversifying self-generated income. Th manager oversees Nafasi’s income-generating activities, including venue rental, AV permits, membership revenue, event-based revenue (tickets, donations, commissions on artwork, vending permits, merchandise, etc), and donations from artistic programmes (workshops, trainings, residencies).

Job-related activities will include: giving quotes, negotiating, developing sales/fundraising goals and ensuring they are met.

3. Marketing

The manager will be responsible for communicating Nafasi’s vision and accomplishments through all communications, in order to promote increased public attendance/engagement and earned revenue. The manager bears overall responsibility for Nafasi’s brand management and identity.

Job-related activities will include: Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives and strategies, overseeing the marketing budget, creation and publication of all marketing material in line with marketing strategy, planning and implementing event and programme campaigns, monitoring and reporting on effectiveness of marketing communications, creating a wide range of different marketing materials (with graphic design team), ensuring documentation of Nafasi events and programmes.

 

Requirements

Degree in business administration, marketing, or related field

Proven business and marketing work experience (minimum two years in equivalent position)

In-depth knowledge of the creative/arts industry and its current events

Fluency in English and Swahili

Tanzanian citizenship (no work/residence permit required)

Skills

A deep understanding of marketing principles

Strong communication and IT fluency

Creative talents and the ability to solve tough problems

The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines

Attention to detail

Good with numbers

Excellent time management and organisation

Experience in graphic design programmes a plus

Job Location: Mikocheni B, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Period of contract: 1-2 years, with potential for renewal based on job performance

Expected start date: 6th August 2018

Hour/day requirements: Full time (9am – 5pm, Mon – Fri, plus Saturdays/evenings for special events)

Remuneration: Commensurate with skills/experience

Reports to: Managing Director
