It was another evening of fun and engaging conversation yesterday as our new Artist In Residence, Walter Simbo, welcomed questions from guests, visitors and Nafasi staff as part of Artist Hangout.
Walter took time to explain the inspiration and origin of his work and his plans for the time he will spend at Nafasi. The conversation was centered on ideas of home and motherhood which are a cornerstone of Walter’s recent work. There were questions about Walter’s right, as a man, to speak on this subject, and about the origins of his interest in it, all of which were answered and discussed by the artist and audience in the casual but attentive way that has come to define Artist Hangouts at Nafasi.
It was great. We look forward to having Walter with us in the coming months!
