Made of mutating loops infused with a frenetic energy & fast beat – between 180 and 300 BPM – integrating drums, bass, shakers and synths, singeli is one of the most unique African music genres. It originated from the urban neighborhoods of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, following the path of Mchiriku and the Zaramo rhythms that came before it.
