TLM is a member of The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and is a program based at the Children’s Cancer Ward\, at Muhimbili National Hospital. \nSince their beginnings in 2011\, Tumaini has taken a forward looking and assertive approach to childrens’ cancer treatment\, seeking always to be much more than a medical center to all of its young patients. This approach has meant including nutrition\, housing options\, schooling\, play therapy and art/crafts as part of the healing process\, all of which is provided to the children and their families free of charge. \nThe Tumaini La Maisha Festival at Nafasi Art Space will provide everyone with a chance to celebrate art\, culture and music while raising awareness of childhood cancer and the crucial role currently played by TLM in treating childhood cancer in Tanzania. \nThe spirit of a child\, their sheer delight in simple act of living is a profound gift and seeing that spirit persevere through hardships is nothing less than inspiring. This coming festival will celebrate this strength and zest for life\, and invite everyone to support in this worth while endeavor. \nSo join us on Saturday\, 18th of August at 3pm-Late for an entertainment-packed art festival with a cause\, including public art workshops\, exhibitions\, performances by the children of TLM and various other artists big and small\, who will show to support them.

The dance festival will include a 2-week intensive dance workshop (for beginners and advanced) and an epic 2-day Festival of performances. The festival will bring together traditional and contemporary dance performances from a number of local and international artists and dance groups. \nWorkshops will take place from 30th April – 10th May 2018\, from 10:30am – 4:30pm\nFestival Activities and Performances will take place on 11th – 12th May 2018\, from 7:30pm – 10:30pm \nPlease note that on Saturday (May 12th)\, the dance performances will be preceded by a line up of visual art activities including Nafasi ya Watoto: Children’s Art Classes at 10am-12pm\,  ChapChap Nature Body Painting: A Public Art Workshop at 4:30pm that will use the body as a canvas to create beautiful works of art inspired by mother nature\, and the highlight of the night: Mama & Home Exhibition opening by our current Artist in Residence Walter Simbo Urasa at 6pm. \nLet’s join together to celebrate and support traditional and contemporary dance in Tanzania. \nAll ages are welcome.
