Job Title: Intern – Finance Department
Nafasi Art Space is a cultural center for contemporary visual and performing arts in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Nafasi is a working ground for the arts, as well as a place for learning, exchange, and sharing artistic work with the public.
Nafasi is seeking an Intern to work in our Finance Department to begin working from 1 February 2022.
The finance department intern is a self-motivated individual whose objective is to assist the Finance Manager and entire finance Team that pertains to the proper funds management. He/she will be responsible to report to the Finance manager who will supervise him/her on daily work activities.
Duties and responsibilities may include:
Record and posting of approved financial transactions into the accounting system.
Maintaining Bank records and filling them in appropriate manner.
Ensuring that all payment requisitions are complete with all necessary support documentation such as Pro-forma invoices, bids, LPO, selection minutes, delivery notes, tax invoices etc before making payments.
Ensuring that all payments are properly coded and canceled with PAID stamps.
Be part of the report preparation for internal and external stakeholders use.
Be part of the audit preparation and for the purpose of learning support the entire audit process.
Perform all other work related duties as may be assigned by the Community Manager the immediate supervisor.
University degree/advanced diploma in Business, Finance, Administration or Accounting.
Interpersonal skills, bookkeeping skills and attention to details.
Ability to work independently and as a team.
The internship is an unpaid position, however the selected candidate will receive a daily stipend of 10,000 TSH toward food and transport, paid weekly on Fridays.
Interns receive valuable practical training and experience from a highly-qualified team
Interns at Nafasi often go on to receive paid work opportunities either at Nafasi or with other partner organisations after their internship ends.
Interns who complete the three-month internship will receive a certificate of completion and a positive reference letter to assist with future work opportunities
Job Location: Mikocheni B, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Period of internship: 3 months, possible to renew for an additional 3 month period
Expected start date: 1 February 2022
Hour/day requirements: Full time (9am – 5pm, Mon – Fri, plus Saturdays/evenings for special events)
Reports to: Finance Manager
