At Nafasi Art Space last night Kijiweni Cinema offered another fascinating, challenging piece of cinema. Tilai, the law, was the third film from Idrissa Ouedraogo the late, great filmmaker from Burkina Faso. The film is about illicit love and the limits of tradition and tells the story of a man who returns to his village to find his father is married to the woman who was promised to him.
It features gorgeous photography, particularly of landscapes, tons of humor and a story-line full of twists and surprises. It made for a wonderful night.
Rest in Peace Ouedraogo. Nafasi loves You.
