Agxon
Tumpa Agathon Kakusa Mapemba wa Nduba Mwine Musenga Kyume kya Mukanka (aka Agxon) is the 10th chief of Mulunguzi village on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in DRC. He is also an artist, whose abstract portraiture in wood, iron, and stone has developed over the years he spent living in Lubumbashi, Kinshasa, and now Mulunguzi. His most recent series is titled “Miswambwa”, meaning “spirits of good people commemorated by an individual or community” aptly explains how Agxon’s work is just as much about art as it is about ritual and the preservation of identity and history.
