Ruka
Mussa Sango is a graphic designer, artist, communications professional and founder of RUKA Company, a non-profit organisation that uses behavior change communication to improve the lives of Tanzanians through art, culture and media. RUKA also acts as a graphics design consultant for Nafasi Art Space.
By observing the youth unemployment rate and the struggle by PSOs (Private Sector Organisations) and SMEs (Small Market Enterprises) to utilize media and branding for progress, RUKA Company initiated the Ruka-Kipro project to overcome these challenges.
Ruka-Kipro means leap to professionalism. Their aim is to increase employment chances for young professionals from the creative industries by giving them career placement opportunities in PSOs and SMEs. The young professionals work on a volunteer internship basis to help the PSOs and SMEs to design good brand and promotional materials whilst utilizing media effectively for the sake of better communication. The interns are expected to gain work experience, exposure and networking as well as upgrading their portfolios, with constant mentoring from Ruka-Kipro.
Ruka Company also works for other companies as an Advertising Agency.
