Nafasi Art Space (Tanzania), in collaboration with 257Arts (Burundi), is pleased to announce the selection of two female artists who will be joining 257 Arts Gallery for the first long-term arts residency program to ever take place in Burundi that has commenced on 8 May 2023.
Visual Artists, Hedwiga Tairo (TZ) and Kija Carolyne (TZ) who both went through an artistic development program at Nafasi Art Space, famously known as the Nafasi Academy in 2020 and 2022 respectively, will be joining 2 other artists from Burundi and Democratic Republic of Congo respectively, in a 2 months art residency “La Pépinière” where they will be focused on creating works that reflect on African cultural tradition as seen in the frame of contemporary age.

Nafasi Art Space (Tanzania), kwa kushirikiana na 257Arts (Burundi), inayo furaha kutangaza kuchaguliwa kwa wasanii wawili wa sanaa za uoni kutoka Tanzania, watakaojumuika na wasanii wengine wawili kutoka Burundi na Jamhuri ya Demokrasia ya Kongo katika programu ya ‘Artist in Residency’, ya muda mrefu zaidi kuwahi kutokea nchini Burundi inayofahamika kama “La Pépinière”.
Wasanii, Hedwiga Tairo pamoja na Kija CM ni sehemu ya wasanii waliopitia katika programu ya mafunzo ya kisanaa kutoka Nafasi Art Space inayofahamika kama Nafasi Academy kwa mwaka 2020 na 2022 kwa pamoja.

Programu ya “La Pépinière” Residency inafadhaliwa kwa sehemu kutoka kwa Ignite Culture: Mpango wa Utamaduni wa ACP-EU (Afrika Mashariki) kama sehemu ya mradi wa Sanaa Pamoja. Mfuko huu unatekelezwa na HEVA, kwa ushirikiano na British Council Kenya kwa mchango wa kifedha wa Umoja wa Ulaya, na kwa usaidizi zaidi kutoka kwa Umoja wa Mataifa ya ACP (Afrika, Caribbean na Pacific). Ni sehemu ya Mpango wa Utamaduni wa ACP-EU wa kimataifa
Nafasi Art Space inapokea ufadhili kutoka kwa Ubalozi wa Uswizi nchini Tanzania na Ubalozi wa Kifalme wa Norway, pia inapokea usaidizi kuupitia programu ya “Marafiki wa Nafasi” na wafadhili kupitia ukurasa wetu wa Global-Giving crowdfunding.
