NAFASI ART SPACE PROVIDES A SUPPORTIVE WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CREATIVE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTISTS TO CREATE

ARTIST MEMBERSHIP AT NAFASI ART SPACE

Nafasi is both a collective and a network that supports the development and professionalisation of artists. Artist members of the organisation have access to individual or shared production studios, opportunities for learning and exchange through workshops and collaborations with visiting artists-in-residence from around the world, mentorship and support from Nafasi’s administrative and curatorial team, and priority opportunities to showcase their work through Nafasi’s various public platforms such as exhibitions, festivals, and other public art events.

Studio members receive subsidised studio spaces and can stay at Nafasi for up to five years, conditional on annual reviews of their studio payment, presence, and participation in Nafasi’s activities. Nafasi also offers general membership, which does not include an individual studio but provides access to Nafasi’s general and shared spaces and all other benefits of membership.

We normally announce an annual call for studio and general members. Please check this page for announcements and application information.

WHY?

Our capacity and infrastructure help build on the artistic and entrepreneurial traffic between the artists, the public, and the artists’ clients. It also supports the sustainability of the centre with increased income through membership fees for the studios, venue rental, workshop and meeting space, and events.

Our objectives are to help set up the physical infrastructure for the artists to work in, as well as create a platform for public and business to find artistic services in a centre that can sustain itself over time.
