naitwasalma – a sultry voiced Tanzanian Musician, Poet and Graffiti Writer with a captivating and creatively afrocentric approach to music and visual arts.
Seghito and The Unit BAND – an Afro-jazz, soul, and blues vocalist with unparalleled on-stage charisma, a powerful voice, and keen fashion sense (having worked as a fashion designer alongside her musical pursuits), Seghito has and continues to turn heads in Dar’s live music scene.
Dbass Ganun – a talented Tanzanian bassist and qanun (ganun) player (a 10th Century ancient Egyptian string instrument that was adopted by musicians in Zanzibar during the Omani period).
UBT Mchiriku Band – Part of Dar es Salaam’s entertainment and production collective Uswazi Born Talented – UBT Mchiriku Band is working to redefine mchiriku, a musical style that originated on the streets of Dar es Salaam in the early 1990s driven by a battery of local ngoma, socially relevant lyrics, and trance-inducing, lo-fi keyboards.
Freak de l’Afrique – a team of DJs, MCs and producers from Berlin who share a common passion for modern African club sounds such as afrobeats, afro-house, coupé décalé, and kuduro. Their own music mixes afro-house with tinges of UK grime.
