Manage all financial operations including planning, budgeting, accounting and reporting  processes. Ensure that Nafasi’s financial resources are effectively managed and used to  support its mission and goals.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

100%  Accounting and Financial Operations: 

Maintain and improve bookkeeping and accountancy systems (both  computerized and manual) including bank reconciliations, cash  

management, income and grant analysis, bank receipts and payments,  purchase approval and record processes. 

Prepare the statutory accounts of the year-end audit and work with  auditors on external audits. 

Provide regular monthly management financial information (including  management accounts and cash flow forecasts) for the finance manager. Prepare and submit monthly statutory payments such as tax e-filing, nssf,  paye and withholding tax. 

Prepare invoices and receipts for income and payments made by Nafasi. Safeguard all important financial documents in an easily accessible  organized archive. 

Maintain and distribute petty cash and serve as primary custodian for  Nafasi’s office. 

Ensure all staff expenses are disbursed timely and all supporting  documents are retired.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

CPA
MINIMUM WORKING EXPERIENCE:
2 years of working experience

1.  Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including  Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
2.  Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, Independent, self starter, makes informed decisions without constant direction
3.  Proficiency in MS Excel (intermediate to advanced) and experience with accounting  software
4.  Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage and  meet multiple deadlines, with a high level of attention to detail.
5.  Strong ability to display negotiation skills, with empathy
Knowledge of and interest in nonprofits and the communities they serve
Deep knowledge of Compliance and regulations and ability to implement
Ability to strongly communicate and present (verbal, written, body language) fitting to  a situation
